According to the Bavarian soil classification of 1828, this site was designated as a top vineyard.
The name of the most famous Forster site originated in the 17th century, when the vineyards were owned by a family Ungeheuer. And Imperial Chancellor Otto von Bismarck found the 1873 "ungeheuerlich" good. Ungeheuer is situated at an altitude of 130 to 170 meters above sea level. The typical red sandstone weathering with denser layers of clay and sand, which here are mixed with limestone boulders, ensure an optimal water balance and a good breakdown of minerals, which can then be absorbed by the vine. This gives the wines from the monster their great storability.
All products are German products from the Palatinate growing region. They contain sulphites.

The grapes in our <Kalkstein> edition come from the most calcareous plot within the Ungeheuer site. This gives the wine its filigree, exciting structure. Pirist, mineral with a chalky note and a long finish, it uniquely reflects the terroir.
